Photopea is a web-based image editor that looks and works like Photoshop. Here’s what you can do.

The Interface

If you’ve used Photoshop, Photopea is instantly familiar. Layers panel on the right, toolbar on the left, menus at the top. It even supports Photoshop (.psd), GIMP (.xcf), Sketch (.sketch), and Adobe XD (.xd) files.

Basic Editing

  • Crop (C) — Crop the canvas
  • Move (V) — Move layers
  • Marquee (M) — Rectangular/Elliptical selection
  • Lasso (L) — Freehand selection
  • Magic Wand (W) — Select by color
  • Brush (B) — Paint
  • Text (T) — Add text
  • Healing Brush (J) — Remove imperfections

Working with Layers

Photopea has full layer support: opacity, blend modes, layer masks, adjustment layers, and smart objects. Group layers (Ctrl+G), duplicate (Ctrl+J), merge (Ctrl+E). All standard Photoshop shortcuts work.

Filters

Filter menu has all the essentials: blurs, sharpen, noise, distort, stylize. Apply to the whole layer or a selection. Smart filters (non-destructive) are supported on smart objects.

Export

File → Export As → PNG, JPG, SVG, PDF, or PSD. Choose quality and format. Photopea works entirely in your browser — files are processed locally, not uploaded anywhere. Works offline after the page loads.

Pro tip: Set Photopea as the default app for opening PSD files when you don’t have Photoshop installed.
