Strawberry is the music player for people who still curate local collections.

Library Setup

Settings → Collection. Add folders containing your music. Strawberry scans them and builds a database. The left panel organizes by artist, album, genre, and folder. The library search filters as you type.

Playback Quality

Settings → Backend. On Linux, choose GStreamer with ALSA for bit-perfect output. On Windows, use WASAPI. Enable ReplayGain (Settings → Playback) to normalize volume across albums. Enable gapless playback for live albums and classical music.

Smart Playlists

Create playlists with rules: “Genre is Jazz, Rating > 3 stars, not played in last 30 days.” The playlist updates automatically as your library changes. Combine multiple rules with AND/OR logic.

Metadata Editing

Right-click tracks → Edit track information. Edit tags, album art, lyrics. Fetch missing tags from MusicBrainz. Batch rename files based on tags (Tools → Organize files).

Streaming

Settings → Internet services. Connect to Tidal, Qobuz, Subsonic, and Last.fm for scrobbling. Stream your own collection remotely via Subsonic server integration.
